Andrew K. Thompson lives and works in Riverside, California where he teaches photography at CSU, San Bernardino; Chaffey College, and University of La Verne. Thompson holds a MFA degree in Studio Art and Design from the California State University, San Bernardino, a Certificate Degree in Art Business from New York University and a BFA in Photography from the Academy of Art, San Francisco. His interest in authenticity and materiality has led him to create palpable, sculptural photo-objects. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States. He has been included in exhibitions at the Alan Klotz Gallery, the Parish Museum of Art, Bravura Gallery, Supreme Trading, Ad Hoc Gallery, Samson Projects, Shosana Wayne Gallery, Torrance Art Museum, Projector Projects, Pomona Packing Plant, National Orange Show Art Gallery, the Art Exchange Long Beach and the Offramp Gallery. His images have been published in Elle Magazine, Urban Italia, Rhythm Magazine, Time Out New York, The Village Voice, and Artvoices. He has written for Artvoices and Dotphotozine. He has received the Taewoong and Soonja Oh Kim Scholarship, the Maloof Scholarship, the Office of Student Research Grant, Associated Students Incorporated Travel Grant and the President’s Outstanding Team Award from California State University, San Bernardino.He has also been a professional wrestler and creator/promoter of Punk Rock Pillow Fight.
