Andreas Feininger

Untitled (Solarized Nude), c. 1940
Silver-Gelatin Paper
10 x 8 in (25.40 x 20.32 cm)
An excellent example of the series of solarized (Sabattier) nudes Andreas Feininger began creating in 1930s. He made an unknown number of solarization print variations from the same original negatives during his lifetime. This print is flush mounted to mat board so it is not known if it is signed, stamped or dated on verso. Provenance: The print was acquired from the estate collection of Miles Barth the famed curator and author who established the renowned Department of Archives and Collections at the International Center of Photography in NYC.
